ANTI RAGGING CELL

Jai Prakash University has a strict no-tolerance policy against ragging. Ragging is unequivocally forbidden both inside and outside the university campus. The University adheres rigorously to the ragging regulations established by the Honorable Supreme Court of India and the University Grants Commission (UGC). The Anti-Ragging Policy prohibits ragging inside the grounds of Jai Prakash University and its constituent /affilated colleges. Any individual discovered engaging in such acts will face stringent consequences, regardless of the extent. Jai Praksh University has established an anti-ragging policy and committee. To prevent ragging on campus and to implement appropriate measures against those participating in it. To eradicate ragging in all its manifestations inside the institution by enacting legal prohibitions and preventing its occurrence in accordance with the Regulations of the Supreme Court and UGC.

DEFINITION:

Ragging is defined as any act that causes or is likely to cause a student physical, psychological, or physiological harm, such as anxiety, humiliation, or embarrassment, and includes (a)Teasing or abusing any student, playing practical jokes on them, or causing them harm. (b) Asking any student to do or perform any act that he or she would not normally be willing to do or accomplish. Ragging differs from other crimes in that the motivation is simply for perverted pleasure. Ragging differs from other crimes in that it is deliberately supported by some segments of society.

Observation and Directives of the Supreme Court::

The Supreme Court of India has observed that enrolment in academic pursuits or a campus life should not immunize any adult citizen from the penal provisions of the laws of the land.

According to the directions of the Supreme Court if any instance of ragging is brought to the notice of the administration or the faculty, it is legally binding on the institute to report the matter to the Local Police.

OBJECTIVE:

  • To educate the students on the perverse nature of ragging and its inherent dehumanising impact.

  • To keep a continuous watch and vigil over ragging so as to prevent its occurrence and recurrence.

  • To promptly and stringently deal with the incidents of ragging brought to our notice.

  • To maintain a constant eye and vigil on ragging in order to avoid its incidence and recurrence.
